About Neiciegirl

I am Denise Rudy, I have been a full-time community college professor for the past 22 years. Teaching and helping people find their path in life is my passion. I love being a teacher and professor. I have a BA in the Social Sciences from CSUSM. I also hold a certificate in Expressive Healing Arts from the University of Florida.

I was a trained artist, studying art education at Ohio University, but after discovering expressive arts and collage this type of art became my passion. I now work as an expressive art teacher and create collage works of art done entirely with scraps of paper.

Expressive art allows self-expression to be put into color and shape while reflecting on one’s thoughts and feelings in a creative and expressive way that deepens self awareness and intuition.

Expressive art is not about the outcome, but rather the process itself. There is no artistic skill needed to have the benefits of this work. And, it is FUN!

The poetry I write and the paintings I create come from the expressive art experience. I write and paint inner feelings without any editing. I write as it streams from my heart, I do not go back and critique it or change anything. It is meant to be raw.

My Artist’s Way classes teach this process using the critically acclaimed book, The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron, as a roadmap.

I have been studying spirituality and metaphysics for over 40 years beginning with “A Course in Miracles.” I have taken countless workshops and classes in this area and completed 3 years of classes toward becoming a Spiritual Practitioner through the Centers for Spiritual Living.

In 2014, I took a sabbatical from my job as a professor, and moved to Spain. I found the expressive arts during this time and took all the classes and workshops I could find related to expressive arts. I studied expressive painting, art journalling, spoken word poetry, and other expressive modalities. This changed my life!

Though this work, I found myself, the authentic one, the happy girl inside me that loved to have fun and express herself without any shame. I found Neiciegirl and became happy with who I had become,
